Who We Are
BlackWake is a small, obsessive, engineering-first products studio started in the Midwest that delivers tools to people who live in the tension between preparation, and the moment. We sit at the intersection of physics, precision machining, and real-world testing. Every product starts on the bench and has to prove itself on the range, on the water, or in the woods before it ships.
BlackWake products are dreamt, built, and shipped from our location. The genius behind some of the engineering, and helping our ideas become prototypes, is thanks to our fantastic partner Vitruvian Collective LLC. They are an engineering fir, dedicated to solving difficult problems from first principles and carrying them all the way through to working hardware.
What We Build
Our first products live where frequency and tension decide whether you hit, hook, or miss. Harmonix is a true tuned mass damper for compound bows, designed to let you tune your stabilizer to your specific riser instead of bolting on more weight and hoping for the best. VoloReel is a fly reel built so you can actually feel what the fish is doing when the drag is active, not just watch your line leaving the spool.
Different tools, same idea: if you can feel more, you can perform better.
BlackWake Approach
We design from the waveform up. Instead of starting with how a product should look, we start with how it should behave under load - how it vibrates, how it damps, how it transmits or filters the information you actually care about. Only after the physics are right do we lock in the form factor, finishes, and details you see on the site.
That same mindset extends to how we ship: small batches, tight tolerances, and honest iteration with real shooters and anglers instead of marketing decks.
BlackWake is the consumer-facing edge of a broader engineering ambition. the same tools, test rigs, and vibration analysis we use on bows and reel are the foundation for future work in the higher-consequence environments.
